64. A Bible Lesson on Encouragement

64. A Bible Lesson on Encouragement

Many years ago, when I begin considering serving the Lord as a Christian writer and speaker, he gave me a mission to focus my efforts. My full mission statement reads as follows: I will offer encouragement for life in a complicated world by inspiring people to choose hope, experience transformation, and recognize victory in our Lord, Jesus Christ. Today’s episode is in preparation for a new weekly blog and monthly newsletter titled Encouragement for Life. What else would I name it? My first attempt to offer encouragement and kickoff a mental health ministry, at God’s design, was in writing and publishing a workbook. In This Corner: Battling Depression from Inside the Ring was published in 2005. 20 YEARS AGO!! A couple of years ago I republished it as In This Corner: Battling Trauma and Mental Illness from Inside the Ring because trauma did play a big part in my mental health challenges. To celebrate my 20 years, I’m hosting a book club and creating a launch team to draw attention to this important workbook. Please join me! Just follow the link below.

62. Support Group Success

62. Support Group Success

This episode is a presentation that was given at a virtual workshop for the Faith+Mental Health conference in May 2025. Caroline has nearly 20 years of experience as a leader for a Christ-centered mental health support group where she emphasizes hope, transformation, and victory. This approach is based on the Spirit-led process God revealed to Caroline in reflecting on her own recovery journey. This unique perspective will challenge leaders of support groups, small groups, Sunday School classes, etc., to encourage their group members to choose hope in the midst of challenging situations, experience God’s transformation as they grow and heal, and recognize victory in their daily lives. The presentation will include definitions of key terms; how to incorporate hope, transformation, and victory in each meeting; tips for encouraging holistic transformation; sample scenarios that might occur in a group setting; and the use of a confidentiality covenant.
